For over 17 years David M. Adler has provided innovative solutions to creative professionals and organizations in the arts and entertainment industries. He has guided actors, writers, filmmakers and investors through the dynamic and sometimes murky legal challenges presented by the interrelation of creative rights and corporate legal obligations. David’s practice focuses on providing legal counsel on motion picture/television production, live theatre and digital media finance, development, production and distribution. David has represented a wide range of creative clients on the full life-cycle of creative exploitation from business-entity formation and finance, to screenplay and book options and rewrites, to talent engagement, pre- and post- production, including music rights acquisition and clearance, to film festival screening and distribution, as well as interactive and digital marketing and advertising, content licensing, syndication, distribution, Social Media and many other related deals.
David has been designated by his peers for the fifth consecutive year as an Illinois SuperLawyer® in the areas of Entertainment & Media Law. Outside the practice of law, David was an Adjunct Professor teaching Music Law at DePaul College of Law, formerly chaired the Chicago Bar Association's Media & Entertainment Law Committee and is currently a member of the Illinois State Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Committee.
