Brenda Webb is the Executive Director of Chicago Filmmakers, a 40 year-old not-for-profit media arts organization that serves local artists by supporting the creation and dissemination of new media arts work and serves local audiences by screening artistically innovative, socially relevant, and diverse films and videos. She began working at Chicago Filmmakers in 1978 as Program Director and became Executive Director in 1985. Prior to that she worked as an educational film editor at Treeflower Films in Chicago and taught experimental film aesthetic classes at Columbia College Chicago. She has served on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance of Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC) and the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers (AIVF), and was a founding board member of the Chicago chapter of Women in Film. She is founder of Reeling: The Chicago LGBT International Festival, the world’s second oldest festival of its kind.
