Robert J. Labate is a partner in Holland & Knight's Chicago office. His practice includes a focus on entertainment and transactional media, and involves film production and financing, television, digital media, DMCA actions, content acquisition, celebrity branding, theater, licensing, SAG/AFTRA, literary publishing and music. He also represents companies in acquiring content and celebrity rights for advertising campaigns.
Mr. Labate is an adjunct faculty member at DePaul University School of Law where he teaches "The Law of Film and Television Production" and he is currently writing a book on film production for the LCA Law Guide series. His entertainment and transactional practice is recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine.
For the past five years, Mr. Labate has served as chair of the firm's Public and Charitable Service Committee for the Chicago office of Holland & Knight, which supervises scores of pro bono and community service projects in the Chicago metropolitan community.
